The Vaquita (Phocoena Sinus), also known as the "Gulf of California Harbor Porpoise" and "Cochito", is the smallest, rarest and most endangered of all cetaceans. Cetaceans include whales, dolphins and porpoises. Vaquitas are very shy creatures and are rarely seen in the wild, but they can be recognized by their gray color and dark patches around their eyes and mouth. They grow up to five feet, with most females being smaller than the males and weigh between 65-120 lbs. Being very shy, they avoid boats and rarely come to the surface for air, just to disappear again quickly, usually for a long time. They are considered critically endangered because there are only 100-300 living in the wild.
